JEMS ECD was launched on the 02 September 2013. We service ward 90 orphans and vulnerable children from Uganda informal settlement and the Transit Camp area. Our program takes care of orphans and vulnerable children in the community and provides them with proper nutrition, love, care and valuable education. Our objective is to empower disadvantaged children holistically, intellectually, physically and, emotionally preparing them for school. The ECD caters for children between the ages of 3-6 years of age. These children are provided with 2 nutritious meals before being sent home in the afternoon. They are involved in a full day’s lesson plan as well as productive playtime.
We take in 35 children per a year and we have hosted 90 children since our launch in 2013.
With the assistance of our Board members many of our children go into schools in the Durban South-Basin with a full school fees exemption and have produced excellent results.
Jems has employed a full time ECD Educator, Miss Mbali Gumede who is trained as a professional and has obtained her qualifications from the University of South Africa
